Out of curiosity, I checked it out. It was a "a href" redirect to www.unc.edu - University of North Carolina Chapel Hill's website. Sooo funny!!
This is point in case for me of why DUKE sucks. Sure, sure.. it was a "great education"... but not really!! Certainly not$160,000 worth of education.
With the exception of a few - literally, I can count them on one hand - most classes were taught by professors TAs who didn't give a shit about their students or the same material they'd been teaching year.after.year. In short, Duke 'courses' were pretty much nothing more than what I could have taught myself out of $200 textbooks.
But that is not my point in case. Not only was the education not so great... but the people kinda sucked too. Not all of them, of course. Some of the people I met there will be bridesmaids, life-long friends, etc. But can't you find that at any college??
Most of the people at DUKE - the sad majority - are like Miss Facebook Status Updater (point in case). They think their shit doesn't stink and, oh, because they go to Duke they're better than you. Certainly better than anyone at a *GASP* State School like UNC.
It's not that many of the students at DUKE aren't incredibly smart and special... "the best of the best"... or at least seem that way to impressionable freshman. Hell... three of the five girls in my dorm pod freshman year were their highschool class presidents.
But there are also a hell of a lot of really dumb and snobby men and women kids there whose rich daddies bought their admission. Oh, and they'll be sure to tell you they went to Exeter and ask you what your daddy does when they meet you. Quaint.
It feels like it's been forever since I've really blogged, so without further ado... I'll just jump right in with... with a DISCLAIMER that this is a pretty lengthy post.
Friday!!
Started the weekend off right with a 5:30pm Cross Fit workout. It was a benchmark "Nancy" which consists of:
5 rounds x [400m run & 15 Overhead Squats @ 65lbs]
It wasn't pretty... but around 6:15pm I was drenched in sweat and feeling like I earned a DriNkY:-) I hurried crawled in traffic home to meet Joe for dinner and then we were off to the Noc Noc for pre-show drinks with friends. YuPPers... it was a SHOW NIGHT!!!
We snagged tickets to see Built to Spill at the Show Box at Pike Place - a real treat :-) BTS is an Idaho favorite that I first heard on the (only *cough*cough*) CD mix Joe made me, some 18 months ago now. I am a fan, and we all had an Amaaaazing time...
The show wrapped up around 12:45am and I was sleeeeepy girlfriend. But I really wanted to be accommodating girlfriend, so I agreed to going up to Capitol Hill to meet up with two of Joe's college buddies.
So off.we.went in a cab, to some bar - I have no idea because I could barely keep my eyes open - where I struggled to stay awake. Joe apparently didn't notice sleeeeepy girlfriend though, because after we (and by we I mean they... I was no longer drinking because of aforementioned narcolepsy riskfactor)closed down the bar, Joe wanted to go to his buddy's place to continue the party into the wee hours of the night.
Remember the whole "Late Night" thing we used to do IN COLLEGE???? Yeah, that's what Joe had in mind. Apparently accommodating girlfriend agreed, though I still cannot say with certainty that happened. It was really neither here nor there, though, because as soon as we arrived to our late night destination, sleeeeepy girlfriend was promptly down.for.the.count. I guess Joe had a good time though playing some game that involved pennies. I don't know. I was told we made it back to our bed by 4:30am!!! I was also told that sleeeeepy girlfriend is very hard to maneuver out of a cab and up 4 stories to where we should have been several hours prior.
I think there's a take home lesson here for accommodating girlfriend here... Just Sayin...
Saturday!!!
Saturday morning afternoon I wake up and can't find my Blackberry anywhere. I'm pretty annoyed about this, because I had been very careful about keeping everything in my purse (which I never usually bring out). Joe also is "mad at himself" for making us stay out so late, and for not being able to account for my BB. He insists he made sure it was with me when we left, so he calls the cab company to check, thinking it may have fallen out of my purse. Apparently they already have 3 requests for BBs and none found. LAME.
Well, around 2 PM we hear from Joe's college buddies and ***THEY.HAVE.MY.PHONE*** Hoorayyyy!!! So off.we.go. to Capitol Hill agaaaiiin to retrieve my BB. We meet college buddies for Bloody Marys (is the plural of Mary Maries? ha) and they seem oddly excited for me to get my phone back. When I turn it on I see why - they have left a lovely present for me as my new wall paper.
No, it is not appropriate to post on my PG-13 site. Yes, I did vomit a little bit in my mouth and promptly delete my mobile browsing history. Use your imagination :-)
Before we know it, it's TIME. We're off to meet Zach and Ashley at the Seattle Center to see Warren Miller's new Dynasty ski movie.
It.was.amazing. I can't wait to go skiing now!!!!!!! Here's the trailer:
After Dynasty, we go to Jabu's Pub in Queen Anne for dinner. The food is delicious, but I think only because we are all starving. haha.
Then Joe, Bondi and I head out to my folks' place for a low-key night. I take a photo shoot of my mom and our family's dog Sophie with my newly rescued BB. One of many:
Aaaand... obligatory shot: Bondi and me watching South Park:
Sunday!!!!
Lucky me!!!!!!!! My dear friend Ashley invited me to join her for the MLS Cup (that's major league soccer for those of you who don't know) at Qwest Field. The MLS Cup is like the World Series of baseball... the NBA finals of basketball.. and the Super Bowl of football.
IN THE CUP FINAL:Real Salt Lake vs. Los Angeles Galaxy (yup, that's David Beckham's team!!)
Before the game a group of us met up at Pyramid Brewery my favorite pre-funk spot in SODO no doubt because we know the bartenders :-)
L to R: Brian, Joe, Ty, me, Lucien, Ash
It was quite chilly out, so I decided to sport my very warm "Idaho" Hat I recently bought at Value Village (don't worry - it was new). I have become quite attached to this hat... I would go so far as to say, it was the best $4.95 I ever spent. (I only mention this now because it is important soon.. very soon...)
Ash and me. And my "Idaho Hat"
Joe and me. And my "Idaho Hat"
Maybe you can see why I *heart* my Idaho Hat. Less than $5 people!!!!
Anywayyy... Ashley's tickets to the game were A-MAZING. We're talking about 5 rows up from the 50-yard line!!! They had lots of Bells and Whistles for the opening ceremony. Here are some pics:
Opening ceremony: Real Salt Lake vs. LA Galaxy
Opening ceremony MLS Cup
Fireworks at Qwest Field!!
Obligatory David Beckham shot. Whatever :-)
L to R: Brian, me, Lucien and Ashley. Awesome seats, eh??
So umm... I love soccer and all. But after regulation time was finished, I was hungry.. and I'm not going to lie.. I wanted a cigarette. (No smoking ANYWHERE at Qwest Field). I refused to pay for Qwest field overpriced crap so I left with intentions of grabbing a quick Veggie Dog (and smoke) outside and hurrying back in. As I was leaving the wanna-be Police Officer security guards told me there was no entry. At that point I had already decided. It.was.time.
So I marched off on my veggie dog mission, but arrived at my destination hot-dog vendor of choice, I discovered I had no cash. MAJOR FAIL!!!
It was time for PLAN B.
Hot-Dog Vendor told me how much he liked my Idaho Hat.
I told Hot-Dog Vendor his hat (a Seahawks beanie) was okay... but not as cool as my Idaho Hat. Then I told Hot-Dog Vendor I thought his veggie dogs were pretty awesome, though.
Hot-Dog Vendor offered to trade me his Seahawks beanie and a veggie dog for my Idaho Hat.
My head said NO. My heart said NO. But my stomach said YES.
MY STOMACH WON:
Hot-Dog Vendor (aka Bill) sporting my "Idaho Hat"
At least I got a scrumptious veggie dog out of it :-(
For real, peeps... I feel I made a very.bad.decision!!! If only there were trade-backs...
In all seriousness, I'm heading to Value Village ASAP.
I am SOOooo behind in Google Blog Reader and OMG I have some funny stories from an AMAZING weekend. Sadly, though, weekend tales, etc. will have to wait until tomorrow when I have my camera cord. (A few photos are definitely necessary!!!).
In the meantime, here is this FUNNY VIDEOof my silly dog Bondi who on Friday at work discovered the PILATESBALL. I've been told it looks like he is "humping" the big blue ball... but I promise you, he's not!! He's just playing. Soccer is his favorite. This is a whole new world of fantastic-ness for Mr. Bondi...
Just got an e-mail from my friend Carly. Mass emails are sometimes entertaining, but wow. This one is FUNNY!!! And I just had to share with y'all.
Now I don't know if Carly came up with these or just passed it on, but these little random thoughts / WTF moments are SO TRUE!!!
Here goes:
Here are some random thoughts that have crossed everyone's mind at some point in time and i felt the need to finally share my WTF moments with you all ;)
1. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.
2. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.
3. The only time I look forward to a red light is when I'm trying to finish a text.
4. MapQuest really needs to start their directions on #5. Pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.
5. There is a great need for sarcasm font.
6. As a driver I hate pedestrians, and as a pedestrian I hate drivers, but no matter what the mode of transportation, I always hate cyclists.
7. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?
8. I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.
9. I TOTALLY take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.
10. Was learning cursive really necessary?
11. "Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this ever.
12. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars teams up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front.
13. Bad decisions make good stories.
14. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.
15. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you've made up your mind that you just aren't doing anything productive for the rest of the day.
Soooo yay!!! My first "blog bling" - at least, that is what I will be calling Blogger Awards from now on.
I received two blog awards in the week or so, but I feel like I've been soooo slammed so here goes (and I'm going to do a little combining action, since they're pretty similar.. oh and I don't have enough "blog buddies" to link to yet!)
First up, thank you Abby!!! Abby over at Keeping Up With The Krecks gave me the Kreativ Blog Award :-) This is my first award ever, and apparently all I had to do it was follow Miss Abby - such. a. hardship. to. follow. someone. so. ridiculously. awesome! But seriously, go check her out. She rocks!!
So here are the rules for the Kreativ Blogger award:
*1* Thank the person who nominated you for this award.
*2* Grab the button and place it on your blog.
*3* Link to the person who nominated you for this award.
*4* Name 7 things about yourself that people may not know.
*5* Nominate 7 Kreativ Bloggers.
*6* Post links to the 7 blogs you nominate.
*7* Leave a comment on each of the blogs letting them know they've been nominated.
Next up, thank you Ashley!!!Ashley over atKiwis and Cocktailsgave me the Sugar Doll Blogger Award :-) Ashley, her Kiwi husband, and adorable pup Piri have quite the life - so go check it out... You're sure to be entertained!!!
The rules for the Sugar Doll Blogger Award are the exact same except you name 10 things (or "tid-bits") about yourself... so that's what I'm gonna do now.
And as a side note: I'm not gonna lie I think these blog award names are pretty silly... maybe I'll make one like the "Most ridiculous story" award, but I'll play along!! I love.Love the idea of them anyway :-)
OK, moving on...
*1* I did competitive gymnastics for many years as a girl. I saw the Goodwill games in 1990 when I was 7 years old and decided I wanted to be one of those girls. Never really looked back. I was never the best or anything like that, but I busted my butt. And it sure did keep me out of trouble!! When other girls were at the mall, I was in the gym. In Middle School training was about 4-5 hours a day 4-5 days a week with meets on most weekends. I miss those days, and when I'm drunk tipsy I like to do handstands, back hand-springs, etc.
*2* I have had lots of surgeries... the first after I snapped (audibly) three ligaments in my ankle tumbling during my freshman year. It.hurt.like.hell. Then again about a year later when I broke too many bones to count in the same ankle vaulting. That was officially the end of my gymnastics "career". Then again I had ACL reconstruction from a basketball injury my senior year of highschool. Then again (same knee) I had ACL reconstruction from a wakeboarding injury the summer before my sophomore year of college. I think over those 5 years I may have spent about 1/3 of my life on crutches. Fun times.
*3*Purpleis my favorite color. I know, I know... "When I'm old I shall wear purple." But whatevs. I like it.
*4* I volunteer as often as I can at Sarvey Wildlife - it's a wildlife rehabilitation center in Arlington, WA. They operate soley on donations and take in all injured or orphaned wildlife... everything from bears and cougars to raccoons and starlings. I've learned sooo much working there over the last 8 or so years. It's not glamorous work, but I've had some incredible experiences there. Like... bathing baby river otters; stitching a fawns head; tube feeding a bald eagle; "pottying" baby raccoons (that's a post in and of itself); and much, much more! Here's two pics of my lil' bro Gabe first with a Bald Eagle (look closely!) and second with with a baby river otter after bath time. This past summer I finally brought him up and he LOVED IT!!! Yay :-)
*5* I love Christmas and everything about it. I have purple stockings hanging from my fireplace right now (see #3). I love cheesy Christmas music. I love finding the *perfect* present(s) for my close friends and family.
*6* I never almost never splurge on full price "brand name" items (I do, however *heart* Nordstrom Rack) but I have an unhealthy obsession with Marc Jacobs. I feel like everything Marc Jacobs is so adorable, even if it totally.is.not. Anywayyy, one day I will have a really expensive Marc Jacobs purse. And I will never lose it. I swear.
*7* Speaking of purses, I almost NEVER carry a purse. When I go to work, I pack all my shit in one of those reusable plastic bags... my current ones I got from Word Wildlife Fundand they have adorable pics of endangered animals on them. Why do I not carry a purse? I find them annoying... I can never find what I need. Oh, and the one time I bring a "nice" purse out... like the nice little white Marc Jacobs clutch my mom got me for xmas 2 years ago, it gets fucking.stolen. (Or lost, I've done that once a few times too...) So usually I go out with my ID and debit card in my back pocket and stash my phone, etc. in my coat pocket or with a friend. That way, if I lose something, I can generally minimize the damage. HA.
*8* TV Obsessions: Almost everything Animal Planet (except those shows where the animals turn on you, don't like those ones); Grey's Anatomy & Private Practice; Law & Order SVU; Daily Show & Colbert Report; South Park; Entourage & Dog Whisperer (even though I no longer get HBO); and occasionally AI/SYTYCD.
*9*Bondi. My almost 4 year old half-papered Doberman / half- whatever dog knocked his mama up dog is my LOVE. I would do anything for him. Oh, and he's tested me on this!!! Remember the whole 'almost dying' thing here? Well, if know me, or heck, even if you follow my blog, you've probably gathered that by now. NUFF said.
*10* I am in love with my boyfriend Joe. Like, totally in love. Even when I'm more.than.annoyed with him... like right meow!! But we won't discuss.. because that would be, what do you call it????.. airing dirty laundry.. and I'm not gonna go there. So I'm sitting here doing this "Blogger Award" thingy I've been procrastinating, with a bottle of [yellow tail] SHIRAZ, and I'm starting to feel a little better.
OK, and now for nominations (in no particular order)... Please just disregard if you've already done this shiznit:
Quick update - just picked Bondi up from the vet. He had to be put under today to have his teeth cleaned - no extractions necessary, yay! Apparently when Bondi came to from the anesthesia, he "tried to hurt himself" (vet's words) and needed to be sedated.
This sounds like one of Bondi's panic attacks to me. He doesn't do well without me in unfamiliar places and I'm sure FREAKED OUT when he woke up in a little cage. I warned them about this... but they said, "Oh no.. he'll be fine... just come pick him up at 4:00 PM." Well, I got a call at 1:00 saying they'd like me to come pick him up ASAP.
Told ya!!! What did mommy say?? haha
Poor Bondi is walking around like a total drunky. I actually don't even know if you can call it walking. In the car ride home his head kept falling awkwardly all over the place so I held it up while driving in the rain and other various multi-tasking. Super Safe.
I would post a picture but it's just too sad and pathetic... and my cell phone isn't working because I spilled water on it this morning.
So now I'm working from home because Bondi needs to be monitored. I set him up a little bed on the floor next to me. His continuous whining is quite distracting though (he apparently still hasn't recovered from this morning's trauma at the vet) and I have to remind him every minute or so "It's ok" so he'll stop whining for just a few seconds.
Joe's off to Boise this weekend on a "boys trip" to go see the Idaho Vandals take on the Boise State Broncos... umm, go Vandals? :-) Unfortunately for Joe, his bud who scored the tickets insisted on driving to Boise. That's, like.. a 9 hour drive from Seattle! Anyway, he texted me after a couple hours to tell me they were in Yakima. Thanks for the update! hehe
Supportive girlfriend (that's me) response - Only to yakima?? Shit u got like 8hrs left haha. Are you being a good DJ? Sorry I forgot to give u my 'whatcha say' CD to play on repeat..
Joe - :) its all for the best
Me - of course it is..
I just thought that was funny. Maybe I'm easily amused!!
Background - I've been subjecting Joe to Jason Derulo's "Whatcha Say" on repeat whenever we're in the car. (I know this is not healthy. I must get over this obsession and plan to do so by listening to it non-stop until I no longer like the song). Joe tried to change the song last night, I think the third time around, so I quickly interjected with a conversation about the 'meaning' of the song ... for reals, though, it's about a girl trying to decide whether to stay with her guy who has cheated on her. Good distraction technique, I thought.
Anyway, so I'm sitting in my apartment with Bondi right now, debating going out or going to have a "slumber party" at my parent's house... my mom likes "slumber parties" :-) I just uploaded a butt load of photos on Facebook dating back to the Cold War August, and found a few recent ones I thought I'd share.
Here's me with my sister McKenzie before the Seahawks game a month or so back... if I remember correctly, it was the game Arizona stomped all over us... Final score 3-27. Funny story about that morning, but it's not mine to share... Kenz? :-)
Speaking of the SeaChickensHawks, apparently if we win this Sunday against the Cardinals (not likely - see above), we will be only one game back from the division title in the NFC West.. with a losing record! Apparently our division blows nutz.
Here's a pic from last weekend when I first committed the great cardinal sin of combining navy blue and black. I deliberated over this for quite some time, but really it was just too damn cold out not to wear leggings, so - against my better judgment - I walked out of the apartment wearing this:
I figured it was okay because the shoes totally rock : - ) They did not, however, rock at 1:00 AM when I was walking home. After a night out with the girls, I decided it was time.to.find.Joe. Made this decision rather abruptly and did not wait for a cab.. instead walked the twelve miles blocks from south of downtown to Belltown. It was time to go home and I did NOT want to wear my damn heels anymore. Joe insisted that I leave them on. Argument ensued... apparently long enough (2 more blocks to the apartment!) for us to make it home. So I concede, Joe won.
And.... Last night Joe & I went to meet a our friends Zach and Ashley at Vons in Seattle. They have an awesome Wheel-of-Fortune style wheel that you get to spin every half hour to determine the Happy Hour special. When we showed up it was $5 Jameson shots (pass!), but Ashley got lucky and landed on $2 Sessions (yes please!). So I'm no fashionista... but I've been a bit weary of this new plaid trend.. finally caved and bought this shirt on sale. Thoughts?
Anywayy as it turns out I AM going out tonight. Like right meow. So ta-ta.. and TGIF!!!
When I got to work today, I realized that I have a HUGE HOLE in the crotch/inner thigh of my pants!! We're talking 3" large. OMG!!! All I have to say is... THANK GOD I'm wearing underwear :-)
How could I not notice this? My job is not customer facing so I don't often 'dress up' much for work. Today, I am wearing black yoga pants, a plain white tee (gangsta!) and a hooded red sweatshirt with Uggs. Very comfy!
So you could say we have a pretty lax dress code... but umm, I think full crotch coverage is still a requirement.
So today has been very awkward. Since I didn't have a change of clothes (except my cross-fit spandex shorts, though I debated whether those would be more appropriate!), I have been carefully waddling around the office, taking very.short.steps.
Now most people probably are wondering how the hell feeding the dog is a CHORE... Oh, yes it is!! Wanna know why? See my pup Bondi has a lovely protein-losing enteropathy (intestinal disease) called "Lymphangiectasia" that nearly killed him (remember?), which means he can eat ONLY:
Rice
Tofu Potatoes
Tuna in water
Chicken breast
Turkey breast
Non-fat cottage cheese
NO (less than 3%) FAT
NO GLUTEN
Unfortunately, there are no commercial dog foods that meet the above criterion... (and even if there were, I highly doubt they would be palatable to Mr. Bondi) so to keep my dog alive, I get to for cook for him.... three.times.a.day.every.day.for.the.rest.of.his.life.
bondi's food. really MUCH larger bowl than it looks. the pills are TUMS :)
This involves buying chicken breast and potatoes in bulk... we're talking 50 lbs at a time, which ain't cheap!! (In case you're wondering, our freezer is pretty much filled to the brim with chicken breast at all times, and our cabinet stays full of tuna for whenever we're in a "Bondi Food" pinch.) Then, we either boil or grill the chicken breast 10 lbs at a time and store it in VERY large Tupperware. Thank God for microwaves, because I can cook his potatoes in about 6-8 minutes.
On any given day, Bondi eats:
3-6 chicken breasts
3-6 potatoes
I KNOW!!! What an OINKER, right???
Special... the vet said to feed him "as much as he wants" because due to his permanent (now manageable) condition, he will always be susceptible to rapid weight loss. (Jealous much? hehe). Oh, and because his diet is pure protein and starch, it's seriously lacking in nutrients. So CAN'T forget the vitamins and - get this - TUMS for Calcium/Magnesium.
ALAS... you see, cooking for Bondi is quite a CHORE and I would be ecstatic to never.ever.EVER do it again. Lucky me, I have an amazing boyfriend who shares Doggy Chef Duties with me, and I get a wonderful (alive) dog who warms my heart:
yes. this is bondi in a box. (my NEW computer box!!!) hehe
PS: This post reminds me, just a few days ago I realized how terribly rotten Bondi's teeth are getting :-( I was so busy trying to keep him alive for so long, that I didn't even think about his teeth. Without any hard food or bones to keep the plaque and tartar away, his teeth have totally gone to hell in a handbag. Now he has to go in for professional cleaning - possibly extraction! - on Monday.. they'll have to put him under to do this. And I feel SOOOOOooooo terrible for not noticing earlier. Seriously... seriously negligent. So umm, take home lesson... brush your dog's teeth? Uggghh
To participate in Wishful Wednesday, head over to:
First, a cat bite update. In case you forgot, last Friday was my thumb's D-Day. Since the infection is now in my joints, tendons, and bones (UGGH!), it's apparently "pretty serious". However, the CIPRO I'm taking seems to be helping, so the doctors said they're willing to wait it out another month to see if the pain and mobility continues to improve. I reallyyyy hope so, because I'm not a big fan of surgery. Though Joe is an excellent nurse ice-bag retriever, chicken soup maker, medication dispenser, etc.
Moving on... a little something about me. I talk in my sleep quite frequently. I also sometimes have lucid dreams. From Wikipedia:
"A lucid dream is a dream in which the sleeper is aware that he or she is dreaming. When the dreamer is lucid, he or she can actively participate in and often manipulate the imaginary experiences in the dream environment. Lucid dreams can seem extremely real and vivid depending on a person's level of self-awareness during the lucid dream."
This can make for some interesting nights. Sometimes lucid dreams can be really fun - it's like creating your own dream destiny - but other times they can make for some really terrible nightmares. (This is why I refuse to take Chantix to quite smoking, but that's another post.)
Anyway, this morning in my half-dream state, Joe decided to buy a baby dying rat (weird, I know!) from a gas station. He picked the smallest one out of a cardboard box. I thought it was a stupid idea because it was so pathetically small it had no chance to live. But as soon as we got it in the car and started to feed and care for it, it grew. Very quickly.
Before we knew it, this rat was quite large, and while friendly to us, he did NOT like Bondi. He was constantly biting at Bondi, creating a very unpleasant car ride experience. I, of course, was not happy about this.
"I told you this was a bad idea. Why the HELL would you buy a gas station rat, JOE!!?? What were you thinking? Bondi HATES him."
That's what Joe got to wake up to, anyway :) I am only sometimes vaguely aware when I'm talking that I'm actually "asleep" but I'm quite certain I would love to be a fly on the wall in these moments.
The funny thing about these dreams is that they totally affect my emotions. I will wake up in an excellent mood if I've had a particularly pleasant dream. Or, I will wake up absolutely furious about something that happened in a dream.
A few weeks back, I was woke up soooo pissed because Joe took me to his Karate class (No- he doesn't actually do Karate) under the pretense of showing me his newly acquired bad-ass block chopping skillz, but come to find out, he actually brought me to introduce me to his new girlfriend "Katie". He met her in Karate class. Ooohh I did not get over that one until that Sunday afternoon!! haha
Anyway, so this morning was a little rough. Upon waking, I promptly sent Joe a text that said: "I love you joe, but I don't know why u insisted on buying that little rat from the gas station that quickly grew big and didn't get along with bondi:)" haha
Bondi also had a rough morning:
We apparently feel the same way about Mondays.
More on my weekend tomorrow, but REAL QUICK: I bought a D & G purse from Nordstrom Rack (LOVE this place!) for $199. Retail is $990 (I know!! Who spends $990 on a purse? I still can't believe I spent $199 on it!!!) and I am trying to decide whether to keep it, give it to my sis for x-mas, or sell it on eBay.
Also, got this hat (new!) at Value Village... I kinda like it :-) Joe thinks it's cute and calls it my "Idaho" hat. (He's from Idaho, through and through). Here's Bondi modeling it for yall:
As you can tell, Mr. Bondi doesn't like dress up much.
And last... my new music obsessions:
1) "Whatcha Say" by Jason Derulo. Don't judge. It's catchy!!! (Click here to listen).
2) Sara Bareilles - Little Voices. What an incredibly album!
First up, my friend Zach is participating in Movember. What is "Movember"? Well, since you asked...
"Movember is an annual, month-long celebration of the moustache, highlighting men's health issues - specifically prostate and testicular cancer. A Mo Bro starts Movember - the month formerly known as November - clean shaven, and grows a moustache all month long, garnering support from friends and family in the form of donations. What's more, a Mo Bro is a walking billboard for the cause as his new look opens the door for him to talk about cancers affecting men - making the moustache a symbol, much like the pink ribbon is for breast cancer. [...] While growing a Mo is left to the guys, Mo Sistas (women who support their guys) form an important part of Movember by recruiting Mo Bros, helping to raise funds [...]" (Learn more here)
Anyway, here is my buddy Zach's page on Movember, where you can see progress pics of his Moustache, read his motivation for participation, and donate to his cause. So far he has raised $601.03! If nothing else, come November 30 take a peek at http://us.movember.com/ to see some narly moustaches!
SIDENOTE: I tried to convince Joe to participate, but he said he can't because he's "customer facing" - whatever. I think he's just ashamed of his peach fuzz 'stache :)
(2) Christmas Card for a cause.
I heard about this from Jax at The Roaring Twenties. Want to make just *a little* difference in someone's life? Well five-year-old Noah Biorkman is dying of cancer, so his family is celebrating Christmas next week because they fear little Noah won't make it. You know what Noah wants? Christmas cards. Seriously! This story checks out on snopes.
It's so easy! Just send Noah a Christmas card:
Noah Biorkman 1141 Fountain View Circle South Lyon, MI, 48178
Here's the card Noah will be getting from me:
The actual card is in pretty glossy colors, but this scan from the copy machine will have to do.
Anyway, SO EASY TO DO peeps!!! Send Noah some LOVE.
(3) Vote Jordana: America's Most Stylish Blogger
My friend Jordana from Clutch22, a Seattle transplant living in New York, was nominated by BlueFly and Style List as America's Most Stylish Blogger. Over the coming months, she'll face off against other bloggers across the country in weekly competitions to style a look around one provided piece.
This week, she was given studded Prada booties, and here's what she did with 'em:
Uggh. What a stressful morning we had today!!! It started last night, actually... As I was driving home from Crossfit, I noticed the car was pulling a bit. But then I decided it was just my shaky arms from a hard CF workout (seriously!) and put it out of my mind.
This morning, I woke up early because Joe had a dentist appointment. I was going to drive him so he didn't have to take the bus. As it turned out, thank God I offered!
A little background - Joe works downtown so he walks to/from work, and I traded my Explorer in earlier this year in the Cash for Clunkers program, so I've been driving Joe's Subaru until I find a good deal on a used SUV.
Anywayyy, back to this morning. No sooner do we pull out of the parking garage then we hear a horrid clunk.Clunk.CLUUUNK. We pull over to find:
Lovely.
Of course we were already running late, so Joe's stressing, but he quickly gets to work on changing the tire. SEXY! On second thought, it would've been sexier if I'd done it... oh well, there's always next time...
10 minutes later: Spare tire on. Off to the dentist we go. Or not! About twenty feet later the clunk.Clunk.CLUUUNK. is back. Apparently the spare tire is also flat. WTF??!!!
Joe [exasperated] says: "If it's not one thing, it's another!"
So-Say-I: "Actually, it's pretty much the same thing."
NOTE TO SELF ... in the future, refrain from such observations.
Ugh. Anyway, the rest of this story sucks but goes something like this: Tried to inflate said busted spare tire. Called AAA. Cancelled on AAA. Took cab to tire shop. Bought tire. Went back to stranded car. Changed third tire. Drove back to tire shop. Waited, and waited, and waited... while tire shop changed four tires (apparently with AWD you can't just change one?), checked alignment, etc. etc.
$600 and 3.5 hours later, we were on our way. Fun Stuff!!
Disclamier 1: Lots of pictures to follow. Disclaimer 2: It's such a great topic that I might have to sneak a couple extra Wishes in at the end.
Spring skiing in Whistler is heaven on earth. Can't beat a ski trip weekend with good friends, great snow and sunshine! We always stay in the same Stoney Creek Condominiums and cram a ton of us (and our dogs... huge plus for me!) into the place. We pack up lots of food and drinks and split everything, so it actually works out to be quite affordable. The condo has it's own hot tub and is just a few minutes from the gondolas. It's pretty much awesomesauce.
This past April was INCREDIBLE. We went up for Telus Festival, and we couldn't have asked for better snow / weather / group of people / hilarious stories / amazing fun times.
Chair lift to the top of Blackcomb. BLUE SKIES!
Here I am. On top of the world... (or about half way down, haha)
My sis, dear friend Ashley, college bud Zach, bf Joe and me..
at the top of Blackcomb
Just Joe and me :-)
My boys (sans Bondi) and me on a chair lift...
These two bad-ass skiiers were tough to keep up with!
Me, happy as a clam, on the new...
Peak-to-Peak Gondola from top of Whistler to top of Blackcomb!!!
May have just shotgunned a Kokanee.
Some of us girls, slopeside at the lodge.
My college roomie Lucy (the witty one, remember?) is on my left.
4:30 PM - Apres slopeside! :-)
Of course there's lots more to Whistler... chillin' in the condo, great shopping, and zillions of nightlife options from Irish bars to techno clubs. But being on the biggest mountain(s) in North America in great conditions with amazing friends... it just doesn't get much better than that.

A close 2nd place goes to Deep-Sea Fishing in Cozumel with Joe. It was just the two of us, the captain and the open sea! Oh, and this 36" 25 lb BAD ASS BARRACUDA that I caught! I felt bad about it, except that we ate it for dinner, and what we didn't eat we gave to the staff at the hotel.
And... 3rd place goes to REHAB at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas. I've been twice, and I'm QUITE sure this outrageous pool party would make 1st or 2nd place, except I can't remember why ;-) Here's a nice bloggable picture... my others didn't make the cut.
I'm a twenty-something girl living in Seattle with my amazing dog Bondi (and my other boy). A little more about me - I'm a total animal lover. I talk in my sleep, sometimes alot. I love funnies, and Tom Yum soup puts me in a good mood. I have too many scars to count, and that's fine by me.
